While the Megan Jason donors donated thousands of dollars in equipment to three regional hospitals, they hope their donations will never be used again.
With the help of friends and family, the Watertowns were able to raise enough money to purchase three soft beds, baby strollers, or cribs with freezing pads for dead children.
The devices allow parents to spend more time with their dead baby in the hospital, temporarily protecting the baby’s body, helping them to mourn when they say goodbye to their baby.
The time of day stopped
The grief process is what the yogis know very well, և Cuddle Cot is what they would like to go through.
In March 2018, after 17 hours of work, Mogan’s midwives, from a real birth center in the city of Vauvatosa, told her she needed to be taken to the Frodertert Children’s Hospital. It’s not something և they needed extra help.
The ultrasound examination revealed that the baby, whom Megan and Ason Eason named Charles Frankley, did not have a heartbeat.
“Time stands still,” said Ason Eason. “You’re kind of just … numb.”
After another 19 emotionally torturous hours, many of which were spent giving birth to her naturally deceased son, Megan had to have a caesarean section knowing that the first cry would not be heard as she had imagined for so long.
“I always wanted to have a baby,” Megan said. “It simply came to our notice then. “I just always wanted to be a mother.”
The family and friends would later arrive at the hospital, saying goodbye to Charles, even though they could not get well.
However, it was not long before Charles’ body began to deteriorate in the hot room, with many people coming and going, some even catching him. Although they were far from ready, the Egers had to miss their firstborn.

The time gift
Egers found solace in social media loss groups, and it was through these groups that they first heard about Cuddle Cots.
Medical devices are popular in Europe and are slowly being introduced into US hospitals. The Cuddle Cots, donated by Jaegers to Froedtert Hospital, ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital, and ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, came from Flexmort, a UK-based company.
On March 26, Charles’s third birthday, they asked family և friends to donate so they could purchase a Cuddle Cot for one hospital.
Megan’s boss, Tracy Catarozoli, owner of Sally’s Sweet Shoppe, started GoFundMe for the couple, ագ Jaggers recalls receiving email coupons from strangers. At the end of the donation period, they had enough to buy three.
Megan’s best friend, Dana Kerr, also had a stillbirth with her first daughter, Linley, in 2016. She said she would like to spend more time with her baby.
“When you give birth to a stillborn … those few days when you are in the hospital are the only days you will ever get to catch that baby,” Dana said. “So you want to create as many memories as possible.”
Jessica Cronenberg, Froedtert’s Maternal Neonatal Unit Manager, said Jaggers’ gift was the hospital’s third donated Cuddle Cot.
“Often donors are couples who have lost,” she says. “They are always excited about parents who do not have them.”
Three years after Charles died, Megan and Ason Eason now have two “rainbow babies” – children born after the loss of another, named Guinevere Os Os.
“It simply came to our notice then [the Cuddle Cots] “It should never be used,” said Megan. – But we hope to give the gift of time.
